Talamh Beo calls for peace for Palestine and call on government to firmly oppose the current systemic removal of Palestinian farmers from their land, illegal occupation and widespread genocide.

During Feeding Ourselves in Cloughjordan this year, we brought Mahmoud Zwahre in from the West Bank via live video link to tell us about farming there with settler attackers constantly increasing. Mahmoud pointed to the real importance of staying on the land – farmers have autonomy and some independence from the Israeli state when they know, grow on, graze and keep accessing their land. Food aid does the opposite – it turns independent farmers into state dependents. So solidarity visits and fruiting tree campaigns remain vitally important even now. This is real food sovereignty – being steadfast in feeding your community on your land.
Whoever controls seeds, controls the food supply.
Through a joint project we have organised direct solidarity actions with famers in the West Bank. Due to escalating violence and destruction of the UWAC offices in the West Bank in December 2025 we are unable to continue with our farm twinning project for the present but look forward to resuming this direct connection as soon as we can.
These collaborative famer-led projects included:
1. Farm Twinning Project: members or affiliate organisations developing farm-to-farm twinning projects. Virtual in the first instance, with a focus on sharing knowledge, experiences, and best practices in sustainable agriculture. Groups will have autonomy to develop the projects independently.
● Advocacy Activities: Awareness raising, and/or joint advocacy efforts on issues related to land rights, agroecology, food sovereignty agricultural policies, and social justice, both domestically and internationally.
● Relationship building: Farm to farm or project to project.
And, where resources and capacity allow we aim to support with :
● Campaigns: Collaborative support initiatives to support further advancing and formalizing twinnings, community development projects, capacity-building programs, emergency campaigns and other relevant activities.
If the situation and resources allow we would hope that the partnership between the Parties will also include:
● Volunteer Delegations: Facilitating volunteer exchanges and delegations to participate in
on- the-ground projects, workshops, and training programs.
● Olive Harvests: Organising solidarity campaigns and volunteer programs during the olive harvest season to support Palestinian farmers in protecting their crops and land.
