This international event brings together Irish, European, and international family farmers, policy experts, and civil society representatives. Timed alongside the hosting of the European Coordination Via Campesina General Assembly in Maynooth, the event provides a platform to discuss practical pathways for agricultural reform, local food sovereignty, and the transition to agroecology in Ireland and Europe.
This event is co-hosted by Talamh Beo & Via Campesina during the Irish EU presidency with opening address from Uachtarán Catherine Connolly as part of the week long ECVC General Assembly.

From July – December 2026, Ireland will hold the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. This political window offers a unique opportunity to position grounded, farmer-led solutions at the center of the European dialogue on the post-2027 Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) reform and the EU Strategic Agenda.
The ECVC General Assembly will gather agricultural practitioners from diverse European territories in Ireland in November. Talamh Beo aims to highlight the importance of exchange, networking and peer to peer learning with others as we build capacity to make the necessary changes on our farms and in our fields. Meeting with other farmers engaged in Agroecology from across Europe can help build a broader movement for change which centres Agroecology and Farming with Nature across the continent.
