DIYseeds.org is an educational website created to share a series of 40 short films produced by Longo Maï and the Forum Civique Européen (European Civic Forum), two European associations which actively participate in saving agricultural biodiversity and advocate for the defense of open-pollinated seeds.
The collection, entitled ‘from Seed to Seed’, have been translated into 13 languages (and growing), allowing anyone to learn how to produce vegetable seeds, showing all the necessary steps for producing seeds of 40 vegetable species. There are also botanical classification charts and other useful links.
We are also sharing a PDF that was created to celebrate 10 years of ‘from Seed to Seed’. In that dossier you can find out how DIY Seeds films are used as training aids in schools and producer networks around the world, learn more about the films and find out why it is essential to continue translating the films.
We at Talamh Beo have been asked to share this content with our community to spread this vital knowledge – “the films, like the dossier, need to circulate as freely as heirloom seeds.”
So please share them with your networks of gardeners and vegetable growers, and more widely with all those who are acting to promote healthy cultivated biodiversity.
