DESCRIPTION:Link to book – https://www.ticketsource.com/feasta/feeding-ourselves-local-food-symposium/2025-10-30/14:00/t-dvypmle\n\nRegent House\, Trinity College Dublin\, Ireland\, D02 EV57\n\n\n\n\n Thursday 30 October 2025 2:00PM\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHow can we better support local food producers and nourish communities through stronger local food economies in Ireland? The Feeding Ourselves Local Food Symposium will bring together diverse sectors to nurture collaboration\, highlight the vital connections between agriculture\, nutrition\, and public health\, and explore the potential of public procurement and community wealth building principles as powerful levers to support local producers and enhance community wellbeing. \nTogether\, we will explore practical ways to support farmers and local food producers\, advance key policy proposals—including a Basic Income—and showcase innovative practices that deliver for climate resilience\, biodiversity\, health\, and sustainable livelihoods. \nThe Symposium will be followed by a screening of ‘Farming is Medicine’ and a buffet from Cornucopia at 18.00 – 21.00 in Regent House\, Trinity College Dublin. The thought-provoking short film features physician\, activist\, writer and recently appointed Trinity School of Medicine Adjunct Professor of Land\, Food and Medicine\, Rupa Marya. The film explores the deep connections between farming\, health and community. The screening will be followed by a conversation with Professor Marya and researcher Dr. Ollie Moore\, and includes a relaxed buffet meal. This can be booked as a standalone event or together with a ticket for the Symposium. \nSliding scale tickets & free tickets for farmers – when you are selecting your tickets you have the option to pay the recommended rate\, or less\, or more. We want to ensure that everyone is able to participate in this event. A funded project or commercial entities paying a higher fee will allow for unfunded or community groups to take part in the Symposium. One of the core aims of the Strengthening Local Food Economies project is to research and promote the role of local food producers in the wider sustainable/wellbeing economy. We want to have strong farmer representation at the symposium and thus invite farmers to join free of charge. If you are a farmer\, select the free ticket category. \nThis event is organised by Feasta\, Talamh Beo & Cultivate in collaboration with Trinity Sustainability\, the Open Food Network Ireland\, Food Policy Ireland\, Bohemian FC Spark Project\, Deep Medicine Circle\, EU4Advice\, CODECS\, and more to be announced.
